The usual insightful stuff from Patrick - agree 100% with every one of
these points. To underscore, this needs to be a convo with IT to determine
what they are doing in terms of full/partial/differential and what their
actual/desired overwrite cycles are. But I tell students in my ERM classes
that backups are for disaster recovery and that they should be retained for
as short a period as the organization is comfortable with.
