Records Manager
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Louisville, Ky.

Duties: Under the direction of the Director of Programs and Services of the Presbyterian Historical Society<http://www.history.pcusa.org/> (PHS), the records manager administers a legally-based records management program for the national offices of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)<https://www.pcusa.org/> that includes all types of records (electronic, paper-based, audio-visual) and insures that records of permanent value are transferred to the custody of PHS for long term preservation and access. The records manager trains and assists national office staff with records tasks including managing email and other electronic records, filing paper-based records, and retaining and disposing of records of temporary value.

Qualifications: Masters degree in an information sciences field; or the equivalent combination of a Bachelors degree, continuing education courses, and work experience. Certified Records Manager preferred. Minimum of three years, full-time work experience with records management practices for appraisal, retention, and disposition of records, including experience with electronic records management; experience with records management outreach, including developing and maintaining relationships with records creators, surveying office records, and creating local retention schedules. Knowledge of information technology applications in an archives and/or library environment. Physical ability to do extensive computer work and lift 40 pound boxes.

The Records Manager is based at the Presbyterian Center in Louisville, Kentucky, and serves national agency offices of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) with particular focus on staff at the Center. The position is part of the staff structure of the Presbyterian Historical Society, which in turn is part of the Office of the General Assembly and its Records and History section. PHS, based in Philadelphia, Pa., is the national archives of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and its primary historical research center.
