I think the biggest challenge will be the continuous onslaught of regulatory requirements.  Not saying that they are a bad thing but sometimes it seems a bit much.   So with that said a real innovation would be the complete removal of individuals making decision on what is or is not a record and classification.  I think we are on the way there and in 50 years probably will do it.
