Excellent overview of the process by Larry. Direction has to be set by the
RIM organization. A lot of homework is required in coming up with a good
inventory and defined records series. RIM starts the action with its investigation
and recommendation--department personnel needs advice and their concerns are
primarily operating needs. In many cases changes will occur as you legal
clearances. The functions mentioned in the inquiry will differ from organization
to organization but they are all part of the approval process. One added
item. In may technical organizations a Quality Assurance participation is
needed, particularly in consumer product lines.
