I have to agree with Jesse here, for two reasons.

1) I am always hesitant to click on a generic link for security reasons

2) Especially when the network is slow, it is wastes time to click on a link just to find out if I am interested in it.  I request that links are accompanied by enough information to allow me to assess whether the site is of interest or not.
