It only depends on the value of the records.
Certainly we've heard horror stories of data trapped on old
equipment/media.
I suspect that most of those cases were avoidable.
Getting rid of equipment before migrating data pretty well assures some
bad experiences.
Obviously, it would help if the system used has some way of porting data
out of it to another device...
I guess nobody liked my idea of virtualized/bundled
machine/OS/software/data ???
