I guess I don't get too excited over this kind of product anymore. We would 
never implement it here for a host of reasons.

Use of that black thing on my desk works fine for me. Even better is getting 
up off my duff and actually speaking directly to a real person.

When I worked at Microsoft, I caught myself so many times emailing the 
person that sat in the office across the hall from me. Emailing was the 
culture.

Instant Messaging was introduced while I was working there. Although it was 
marketed as a way to stay in communications with your team when the email 
system was down (something that happened frequently because server ops was 
generally testing new Exchange releases). I always told our systems folks 
that if I needed to stay in touch with me team I would just walk around the 
corner and talk to them. I got some pretty weird looks.

It is tough to be an analog person in a digital world!
