Kim: One of the best resources for legal records managers is legalrec,
the legal records management listserv. There's not a great deal of
traffic on this list, but it's focused for just the legal industry and
job notices are posted here. Here are the sign-up instructions:

Point your web browsers to the following site:

http://share.aallnet.org/read/all_forums/subscribe?name=pll-legalrec-sis

After logging on to this site, you'll be asked to supply your
email address, your name, and a personal password (if desired), then
click the "subscribe" button. The system will send you two confirming
email messages: first, a message to confirm that you actually want to
subscribe to the legalrec listserv; second, a follow-up message
confirming that you have successfully subscribed. These messages will
also contain instructions to unsubscribe, if you so desire. Posting
address is [log in to unmask]

feel free to contact me at 213-892-5359.

I guess I should have said that I have over six years of legal
experience. I worked before entering the graduate program.

Where you start your job search depends on what kind of job you'll be
looking for. Based on your background, is it safe to assume that you'll
be looking for a position in a private legal environment, such as a law
firm or corporate legal department? If so, I can send you some tips on
how to start. I should warn you, though, that a degree with no hands-on,
practical experience generally doesn't hold much weight in any
professional work situation. Even if you were going to use your degree
in law librarianship to obtain a position as a law librarian, if you
come out of school with no work experience, you would find it difficult,
if not impossible, to get a management-type position. You'd have to
start at near entry-level and work up from there, although, with your
background, you might be able to progress up the ladder fairly rapidly.
