Keeping a record copy of all policies (even those superceded) is a good
idea.  Especially for organizations that highly litigious.  Although this
does not mean ALL copies of the policy.

They are a must in instances of personnel actions where the action took
place before the policy was superceded.  And again, where safety issues and
regulations have changed.

For instance what were the policies of an organization that
dealt with building fireproofing (asbestos)
20 or thirty years ago and now have law suites for mesothelioma (don't
take any notice of spelling).
