On Thu, 17 Jan 2008, Lijuan_Yu asked on the Subject: Re: Certificate of
Destruction of Transitory Records
Do we, Records managmenet program, need to keep the certificates of the
destruction of transitory records? How do you handle this? Do you
collect and keep them, or ignore them? My first reaction is to ignore
them, just want to confirm with whoever have came across the same
problem and would like to share with me.
Lijuan,
I think a little more information is needed before one could develop an
answer.
I see from your email address you are in government, so much will depend
on how your agency defines transitory. IF they are copies and not
official records, then I would say there doesn't need to be any
accountability or certificates of destruction created or maintained.
How does your agency define transitory?
