The link I heard made was related to the municipalities and their stadium
agreements with the teams which are part of the NFL. I can't remember
exactly what it said, but its related to a clause in some or all of the
agreements that the product put on the field can't be fixed or tainted. I'm
really not remembering the words, but I know that is the concept of some
part of the municipal funding agreements. With the anti-trust exemption
having to do with sharing television revenue, I agree it's likely not a
known direct link, but from what I've read, that one anti-trust exemption is
so important to the NFL that the mere mention of it gets their attention.
If they lost it, they would no longer be able to pit network against network
for the rights to games and each club would have to market themselves
individually to local markets and accept only that local revenue which would
greatly harm the money available for small market teams like Green Bay and
Cincinnati to compete with large market teams like New England and New York.

I just find it interesting that there is a records question. They pop up in
all shapes and sizes!

I am a college football fan; not so much pro football. Having said
that, after watching the Giants whomp the Packers I predicted the Giants
would win the Super Bowl. Amazing how well the Giants defense played
yesterday. This was the best Super Bowl game I have seen.

Why would any politician give a hoot about the Patriots' spygate? It
has nothing to do with the NFL's antitrust exemption. Sounds like he
was just trying to get attention.

Best regards, Steve

Now that the Giants ended the Pat's goal of a perfect season, wonder
if the Senator from PA will back off on his inquiry into SpyGate.
