In a previous life I worked for a corporation whose HR department want
to retain personnel records forever.  When our governance board met to
review the schedule, our attorneys questioned this, stating that we
should only retain them for the mininum length of time, ACT+6.  The VP
for HR began to argue his case for retaining longer when the HR
attorney chimed in "you guys aren't the ones who have to spend time
defending the company in court."  Case closed, so to speak...
