Unfortunately, there wasn't a monkey here that used their deductive
reasoning and said "wait a minute... if we ALL GO UP THE STAIRS AT THE SAME
TIME... no one will be here to get sprayed!!"

This is the monkey who would have been the consultant!

I think this thread is a sad but true portrayal of what happens in many
cases when it comes to attempting to deploy technology, mainly because
either someone fails to "keep their eyes on the prize" or because they
attempt to throw a pre-determined solution at an under analyzed problem.

Here's something I sent to another person regarding some instances in the
Federal Govt where attempts to deploy, or reluctance to act, have failed
miserably:

....Given the Federal funding model, this is tough, because multi-year
projects are completely dependent upon consistent and continued funding at
an equal or increased levels until completion, then ongoing funding for
"care and feeding" so they remain successful.

When you think about it on the Federal side of the house, this better
explains why the FBI system has spent over $15 million once and $25 million
the second time and they STILL don't have a case file system that works.
It's also why the Executive Branch hasn't been able to get control of their
e-mail for over 8 years, and why the NARA ERA system is not meeting
milestones. It's why NASA lost a decade of audio and data recordings... and
none of those are examples any of us should be proud of or happy about, but
they are similar simply because of the scope and magnitude of the issue...
