I thought that members of this list might be interested to know that
archival and records management issues are going to be addressed at the IEEE
Mass Storage Conference this week (storageconference.org). It is interesting
to note that the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers is taking
an interest in these issues.
Dr. Ken Thibodeau, Director, Electronic Records Archives (ERA) Program,
National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) is delivering an invited
paper entitled, Openness, Growth, Evolution and Closure in Archival
Information Systems -
Lessons from the National Archives' Experience.
Jason R. Baron, Director of Litigation, NARA, will deliver an address
entitled,
Electronic Records and Massively Persistent Litigation: Cautionary Tales &
Emerging Best Practices.
Andy Maltz, Director of the Science and Technology Council, The Academy of
Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (and a member of the Advisory Committee for
ERA) will deliver a keynote address entitled,
The Digital Dilemma: Strategic Issues in Archiving and Accessing Digital
Materials.
