well the full name of the association is ARMA International, BUT the phrase
Association of Records Managers and Administrators is still part of the
incorporation papers IIRC correctly. and people will use the phrase because
very few outside the profession know what ARMA International is or means.

there are other associations who use their acronym only, but do occasionally
spell out the name

for example what does AMA stand for?
