Me thinks Larry is "violently agreeing" with me? (to quote Jesse - one of my all time favorite phrases!)

I, personally, however don't consider IT my enemy.  And not HP either (although I'm not very pleased with the HP laptop I bought).  That being said, Larry's point about checking the perspective is a good one, and should be done even for posts on this list ... ;)  For instance, my posts almost always are shaded with legal industry perspective and with the insight of a mother of three (for whatever those might be worth).

As to our (RIMs) ability to translate up, I also agree we need to be able to do that, but contend that you won't be doing yourself, or your organization, any real favors if you're only translating half the story.  Rather than tattle to management on the "fallacies" of IT arguments, roll up your sleeves and help IT recognize those areas for improvement before management gets involved - you'll be glad you did.

That's now $0.04 worth of my thoughts for today - I'm over budget so I'm signing off ... <wink>
