When I was hired here (also a utility) 15 years ago, I was hired to head
the Records Management Project and actually had to report at the
"projects meeting" every month. After about a year, I was able to show
the ongoing requirements of RIM and the futility of having a monthly
progress report for an infinite "project." RIM was then established as
a "function" not a "project" and is referred to as a program that
encompasses many processes. Foolishly, I thought at that time that I
would have the substance of the RIM program in place in about 3 years
and could move on. Surprise! Within the first few years e-mail
happened, internet use for business processes happened, Freedom of
Information Act revisions happened, Privacy Act revisions happened, and
so on. I'm still here and the program is still evolving and is still
"infinite."
