First, a very brief introduction... I primarily work as an archivist for
a non-profit religious organization. My duties focus on archives more
than anything; however, I do have some involvement with carrying out our
records management program.
My question is this... One of our high schools (private) closed several
years ago. I have a gentleman requesting a replacement copy of his
diploma from said school. While we of course do not maintain diplomas, I
do have access to his transcript. I have been told by the department
that acts as the main administrative body for the private schools
associated with our organization that they do not issue replacement
diplomas. My question is this... are there any laws or regulations
related to this? I am trying to determine if the administrative body for
schools in our organization has some sort of responsibility in issuing a
replacement copy for the closed private school that was under its
jurisdiction in the past.
Thoughts?
