Ginny,

That's a great article. I knew about the "Cisco fatty" Tweet; another one
that got a lot of notice at the time was the ad exec who flew into Memphis
to meet with Fedex, and upon arrival, tweeted the following: "True
confession but i'm in one of those towns where I scratch my head and say "I
would die if I had to live here!"" Needless to say, neither Fedex nor
Memphis found the Tweet very amusing.

FB, Twitter, etc. make it much easier to commit those types of embarrassing
and/or career-limiting/ending gaffes because they used so informally. But I
think the bottom line is "don't be stupid". All of these tools are public,
at least by default - and of course also indexed by Google, Bing, etc. If
you wouldn't want your boss (or shareholders, spouse, coworkers, etc.) to
read it over your shoulder, or if you wouldn't announce it to this list,
maybe you shouldn't put it on your FB wall or Tweet it.

Respectfully submitted on behalf of myself and no other company,
organization, association, entity, or board of directors,

jesse
