There was a good article in the July/August issue of Information Management (ARMA) "Surviving a Records Audit: 6 Steps to Prepare Your Organization." ARMA members can download it free from the bookstore (search on keyword Audit) or non-members can purchase a reprint.

Subject: [RM] Records Management Compliance
To All Records Folks,
How do you ensure that employees are complying with the records management program and retaining records for the proper retention periods?
Do you know of an effective enforcement or audit method for confirming compliance with record retention programs, and if so can you share your
method(s)?
Is anyone has a sample audit process for records management?
Thank you in advance.
