Not trying to start a firestorm and speaking just as a member of the human race, I too was glad to be able to reach out to listserv friends and check on their well-being. It was the fastest way to find out about Judy ( I'm so glad you are safe and heart-felt condolences to all affected by the shooting.)

I expect yesterday's tragedy was especially difficult for you, given your military background but surely, if the list can have endless discussions on the best locale for BBQ, we can use the listserv to go 'off topic' when a unforeseen event occurs.
