Okay, one more comment ... so if the presentation of research papers don't
go over well in the context of a Conference Session, then why do we continue
to allot space for them?  If the point of a session on a research paper is
to simply "read" the results to a live audience, I'm not sure there's a lot
of value in that.  The participants can simply download the article and read
it for themselves.

And in defense (not that I think Ginny was actually picking on anyone), the
ARMA Program Committee and HQ specifically encourage as much interaction as
possible because that is what most attendees report they want, and because
it has been well proven in studies on how people learn that when they are
active participants they learn and retain better - and learning and
retention are good things!

So, full circle, how about this: Why not schedule the conference sessions on
research papers *after* they have been published on the Foundation's
website, and then the session at conference can be more of a Q&A with the
researcher to talk about methodology, other tips/stuff they learned while
doing the research that didn't have a good home in the paper itself, find
out what questions (if any) were left unanswered that may be the seeds of
the next research project ...
