Dear all,
I am Fatimata SANKARE and I am working since june 2005 as librarian-archivist at UEMOA Commission (www.uemoa.int<http://www.uemoa.int> and www.izf.net<http://www.izf.net> in french).
On September 1st, 2009, after a long rainy day, Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) was flooded by stormwater.
The administrative building of the UEMOA Commission didn't escape and so immense damages took place. The building has a basement and four floors. All in all 5 levels. The basement was flooded and the height of the water reached 1.30 m. 60 % of archives were affected.
This situation is disheartening because archives were already organized and the digitalization planning had been already sheduled for October.
We are presently restoring and reorganizing archives.
Thanks to all those who can help me by advice, training or documents of better practices to reconstruct what collapsed and to pursue the road towards the digitalization.
Fatimata D. SANKARE
