At my past company, like Stephen, we bundled our requests with regular
retrievals/pickups scheduled for Wednesdays.  If someone wanted
something outside of that day, it was charged back their department.

Quarterly or monthly sounds like a nightmare.

We bundle our requests now with regular retrievals/pickup scheduled for 
Tuesdays and Thursdays to reduce transportation costs. Quarterly and 
monthly seems odd to me. 

Having gone through an IRS audit a few years ago, the IRS agent wanted
me 
to provide copies of filings I had previously submitted. I questioned
the 
agent on this, asking why should I provide a copy of the original filing

when the IRS already has the original? He responded that it would take
4-6 
weeks for him to receive the past filings as opposed to me copying it
for 
him. Could be the IRS functions on  a monthly basis.

Question for the collective wisdom of the group...

 

Has anyone been in a circumstance where you were limited by your company
to only pulling boxes from offsite storage monthly, or quarterly,
instead of when the record was requested?
