If you have a contract for records storage with this organization, you might
want to dust it off and review the T&C

http://bit.ly/6gGovD

Takeovers/sales can sometimes be a good opportunity to restructure your
contracts and take advantage of what appears to be a weaker market for the
storage providers. Possible rate changes or at least the ability to
negotiate out of permanent removal charges may be something to consider, in
exchange for contract term renewals for longer periods.

If you are willing to negotiate a fixed rate for storage over a 3-5 year
period, based on historical levels of activity, you can demonstrate how much
you would be paying over the lifetime of the storage and processing of your
records and argue that this (including ultimate destruction) will more than
offset the cost of permanent removal, and therefore, it should be removed
from the T&C.

Further, you should use this as a chance to ensure the facility meets the
local/regional/national fire and safety codes, and there is language in the
contract preventing the relocation of your records during the contract term,
or the transfer of the holdings to another service provider without giving
you the ability to remove all holdings at no penalty and resulting in the
immediate termination of your contract.
