Hello,
Longtime lurker first time poster. I'm Michael Perry, the Scanning Operator in the Accounts Payable Dept at Regis Corporation. We own Cost Cutters, Supercuts, Regis Salons, and many more in the US, Canada and the UK. My primary responsibility is to scan all the invoices that we pay for the salons, roughly about 500 (it used to be about a 1000, but we're making progress with receiving more bills electronically, the recession, etc.) invoices a day, some into workflow, most of them scanned after they have been paid. I have also set up a number of templates that we use for other forms, and that are used by other departments in our company. I do use some of the RAIN articles to raise awareness of records management at our monthly meetings, so thanks to all who post those.
My question:
Could someone point me to a citation for the length of time to store W9's (the form Companies and inviduals use to provide their tax number)? I have a filing cabinet of W9's that are older then 7 years, but have not been able to find a ciatation to show my supervisor yet. I've searched the list archives, the CFR, and the IRS website but am not having any luck.
