I'm not sure if READING electronic diaries in the future will be equally as
interesting, or if it will even be plausible.
Today's electronic equivalent of a 'diary' is the blog-o-sphere, with blog
posts being as similar as most folks get to real diary type entries... the
rest of it is laid to waste in places like FaceBook, Twitter, Plaxo, MySpace
which can't really be captured by the owners of the text unless they
diligently cut and paste each entry and place it into other electronic
forms/formats.
Most blog posts are in HTML or some similar form, and that's a bit easier to
capture, convert (or even store in native form), write to PDF and then
manage, migrate, convert as needed to retain some form of persistent
access... hecksakes, you could even PRINT and bind them to make them
'diary-like' =)
And if you're serious about your personal digital life and recording "stuff"
in ways it can be saved, this is the first in an interesting series of
articles: http://bit.ly/5qqbl6
