I agree with Paul. Permanent is really a misnomer and very difficult
(impossible) to manage as RIM professionals. Paul makes a good point that
many of these records can have a long retention period that seems (100
years) somewhat permanent. If you follow the principle that sign-off
needs to be given by the original owner, they will be dead at that point.
Accordingly, it is the responsibility of the dept. to sign off at that
time for destruction or if the document possesses historical value, should
be kept..
