Of the many voids that will be left, Alan had recently become a member
of the NFPA 232 Protection of Records Technical Committee and was
expected to be a strong advocate for the Records Management Industry.
Who will step forward to fill that void? Larry Medina can fill you in
on the details as he also serves on that committee.
I think it would be a nice tribute if one of the Listserv stepped up.
You need to commit to being a strong voice.
I know that are many of you that Alan would have respected as a worthy
voice to fill the seat. Patrick, Fred, Steve, Ginny, Bruce, Peter.
You must apply to NFPA as Alan's alternate and you should have the
support of ARMA. The next meeting is Feb 22 - 24 in Orlando. Please
don't let his seat go empty.
Ironically, Alan agreed to be an alternate originally for Bill
Benedon. So this is a seat that requires a strong advocate of the
industry but you must be willing to spend three hard days in Committee
Meetings discussing technical issues of Records Protection. ARMA won't
pay your way so you need to have support of your organization or be
willing to support your travel costs yourself.
Who will step up?
Hugh Smith
