Greetings to all,

Our Thursday March 4th chapter session is a direct followup to the City of
Vancouver's excellent VanDocs EDRMS Implementation meeting of last November.
What formed an essential part of the foundation for the City's EDRMS
process was the function-based classification project.

Glenn Dingwall, of the City of Vancouver, will share with us the process of
producing the City's function-based classification content standard, will
provide excerpts of that standard, will explain the purpose of some of the
major rules, and provide examples of classifications written and
implemented. Glenn, who holds a Master of Archival Studies from UBC, has
since moved on to the position of Digital Archivist at the City.

Bruce Schinkelwitz, CRM and Master of Archival Studies, is an e-records
consultant based in Beaverton, Oregon, who will be delivering this
function-based classification workshop for a number of ARMA Chapters this
year, e.g., in Toronto, Denver, and Maryland, as well as expanded versions
of the workshop for local government and university RIM programs around the
continent.

Bruce's CV is impressive. He has been an Archivist at the Archives of
Ontario, Records Analyst and Archivist at the World Bank Group, Senior
Project Manager and Manager of Operations for TOWER Software, Senior
Associate with Cohasset Associates, Senior Records Consultant for Lab
Services at IBM, and Product Marketing Records Consultant/SME for FileNet
Corp. He is currently a consultant and reseller of a.k.a.® by Synercon
Management Consultant P/L of Australia.

The event will be held at the Moberly Arts & Cultural Centre, 7646 Prince
Albert Street in Vancouver, on Thursday, March 4th, 9:00 am to noon.
Registration is required. The fee is $10 for members and $25 for
non-members. Call 1-866-577-3663 ext. 82 if you plan to attend, providing
your name, affiliation, telephone number, membership or non-membership
status, and intended method of payment (cash or credit). *Please see the
attached event notice for further details.*

We look forward to seeing you in March. Please keep in mind that we'll be
having our Chapter's 40th anniversary event on April 23, 6:00 pm, at Sutton
Place. And on May 20, 10-12 am, the City of Richmond will host an
information session on its DM/RM Open Text e-Docs implementation, one of the
longest running programs in the region.
