There's a free download available on this very subject.  Go to the
website of the ARMA International Educational Foundation
(www.armaedfoundation.org), then select Research Reports from the
options along the left side of the page.  The report you'll want to read
is called, "RIM Checklist for Mergers, Acquisitions, Divestitures, and
Closures", and was written by John Phillips.

The Foundation sponsors research projects that benefit RIM
professionals, and make the resulting reports available free of charge
to everyone.
