Speaker - Dr. Patricia C. Franks

Master's Degree in Archives and Records Administration less than 3 Years

It's estimated that more than 90% of the records being created today are
electronic. The management of physical records is challenging itself, but
coupled with the overwhelming growth of electronic messages-including
e-mail, instant messaging, and social media-the management of all records
has become a critical business issue. The Master's Degree in Archives and
Records Administration (MARA) offered through the School of Library &
Information Science at San Jose State University was designed to ensure that
graduates can meet these challenges. Attend this program to learn more about
MARA curriculum, instructors, and current students. Dr. Pat Franks will
explain how students can complete MARA's fully online master's degree
program in less than 3 years. Learn how you firm can become involved in
this program by providing internship and/or organizational consulting
projects for students. And, if you're considering continuing your education
in order to expand your professional horizons, find out why the MARA program
may be just what you're looking for.

Dr. Patricia C. Franks is a Certified Records Manager and coordinator of the
Master of Archives and Records Administration degree at San Jose State
University. Pat took the lead in developing the ARMA/ANSI Technical Report,
"Procedures and Issues for Managing Electronic Messages as Records" and is
currently serving as project leader for the proposed ARMA/ANSI standard
"Implications of Web-based Technologies in Records Management." Pat is the
author of a number of articles, including "Impact of Web 2.0 on the Records
Manager." Pat's latest research project sponsored by the IBM Center for the
Business of Government is titled, "New Challenges, New Solutions: How
Government Agencies Can Effectively Manage Records Created Using New Social
Media Tools."
