I recently came across a couple of articles that illustrate how different the privacy question looks from Europe and the USA. These articles make the point that privacy in Europe encompasses the protection of ones honor and dignity. That is why in Germany parents may not give their children any name they choose. Parents may not impose names that threaten the dignity of their children (see http://www.firstnamesgermany.com/the-german-law-on-first-names/) Those interested might be interested in the following articles:. http://www.ialsnet.org/meetings/constit/papers/KrotoszynskiRonald(USA).pdf http://www.yalelawjournal.org/pdf/113-6/WhitmanFINAL.pdf David B.
