Hi Peter,

I think you missed my point - I use http://is.gd links on Twitter all the
time, and on the list as well. But I usually also provider either a full
link or at least a sentence or two on what the link is about. The RAIN
postings in particular have become very terse, with at most a subject line
and the link.

Also, the plugins you refer to are great for websites, but I don't believe
they work when it's a bit.ly (or any other URL shortener) link *in an email
message*.

So let me repeat,

a) I will not click a link even from someone I trust if there is no
additional context. Part of it is security, but the far greater thing FOR ME
is that I don't want to waste my time and attention on something I care
nothing about.

b) I strongly recommend others not click links without additional context so
that you do not get in the habit of doing so. It is not beyond the realm of
possibility that someone could pose as e.g. PeterK, or, I dunno, register a
similar email from another provider and post malicious links.

Respectfully submitted on behalf of myself and no other company,
organization, association, entity, or board of directors,

Jesse Wilkins, CRM, CDIA+, ecmm, emmm, ermm
