in the world of ERMS this type of retention is problematic. When does
obsolescence occur? When I work with customers I spend quite sometime trying
to define the trigger event ie what starts the actual disposition process.

so to me the retention would read "7 years after course completed" or "7 yrs
after the end of the quarter/semester" either one is more accurate than
"after obsolescence"

As records management moves more and more into the electronic world we need
to be more careful in defining the trigger event.
