The same AIIM in one of its publications said that Microfilm is the best and the only tool for long term preservation of information.

At my current engagement, where records are commonly required for 25 years and more, we were discussing digital-record migration strategies, especially the procedural difficulties and expense.
At some point, while trying to assess the viability of methods and the projected responsibility of our distant RIM heirs, it occurred to us that the future solution might be an old one: micrographics.
