If you want freeware, there is a discussion at Gizmo's - a site I find very
reliable. I've used Copernic, it's smaller and faster than google Desktop.

To search file and folder names but not text within files, Search Everything
is simply outstanding, I use it all the time, even ahead of Windows 7's
quite impressive built in search.

If you are after corporate level software, again, there is lots. Autonomy
and Isys are two I've used, but a quick Google will get lots of hits.
