To All on the List:
I took the liberty of contacting Mr. Horn, who I have spoken with a few times, and got the Listserv this information below from Mr. Horn himself:

John,
Thank you for the heads-up. It is good to hear from you again.

I am not a member of the Records Management Listserv, but perhaps you wouldn't mind reaching out on my behalf with this clarification:

The Institute of Records and Information Management, Inc. (IRIM) is a company created as a home for the product RIM On Demand and website www.RIMeducation.com. RIM Education is dedicated to raising the level of RIM and eDiscovery knowledge around the globe. It contains articles, white papers, news items, links to other RIM sites and more. It also includes RIM On Demand -- a subscription service to a series of conference session videos which are integrated with presentation slides in a navigational pane.

It all started as the brain child of Bob Williams of Cohasset, and currently all of the video is from Cohasset's MER Conference. However, Bob wants it to be bigger than Cohasset. All of you who know Bob are quite familiar with his passion for records management and his philanthropic dedication to promoting the field through every means possible. Bob wants RIM Education and RIM On Demand to become the go-to source for quality, high-level RIM and eDiscovery education. Ultimately we seek to include video from other conferences and studio sessions as well as white papers and articles from a variety of qualified authors. While Cohasset may be Bob's legacy, RIM Education is to be his gift.

I am the Executive Director of IRIM and started working a little more than a year ago to bring Bob's dream to reality. Having been a victim of a layoff in 2008, you may notice my own personal touch on the site. Anyone looking for work can submit an article and we will highlight it in our newsletter under the "Guest Spot" to give them a little promotional boost. Additionally, Bob was gracious enough to establish the MER Conference Scholarship for the unemployed in our field.

I understand that there has been some confusion between IRIM and the Institute of Certified Records Managers. There is no formal connection, though we consider ourselves brothers-in-arms with a common goal of elevating the status of RIM professionals. Furthermore, all of the RIM On Demand sessions are approved by ICRM for continuing educational credits. There is absolutely no competition between us and we will eagerly assist them in every way possible.

I hope this serves to clear up any confusion and I look invite you to visit www.RIMeducation.com

Regards,

Bill Horn
