This course is designed to provide the skills and knowledge needed to manage electronic records and to take steps required to transition from a paper to an electronic records environment.
Outcomes:
On completion of the Electronic Records Management course, participants will be able to:
* Define key terms related to electronic records management
* Describe the advantages and limitation of electronic records
* Identify laws, regulations and legal policies and practices that impact electronic recordkeeping requirements in the Federal agency
* Recognize the necessity of involving Information Technology (IT) professionals in records management
* Identify recordkeeping requirements for electronic records
* Describe the characteristics of electronic records to consider when determining scheduling and disposition instructions
* Develop policies and procedures for managing e-records
* Build recordkeeping functionality into electronic systems
Who Should Attend?
The course is designed for anyone who has basic records management experience, but is less familiar with electronic recordkeeping; and is responsible for developing or updating agency records schedules, or whose work involves developing records retention requirements for electronic records and information systems. It is not intended to be a general introduction to Records Management.
