As a RIM practioner, I don't feel that I can ignore reprographics in good conscience.

Today, many (most, all?) office copiers and multi-function devices include hard drives that may record and save digital copies of documents copied, scanned, faxed, etc. These copies may be discoverable in civil litigation.

At last week's OnDemand trade show in Philadelphia, I spoke with representatives of Canon, Konica, and other manufacturers of office machinery, trying to identify the default settings for onboard hard drives. This week, I am awaiting the documentation they offered to provide.

However, all booth personnel with whom I spoke assured me that security measures are available in the way of settings, fixes, or products. Until definitive information becomes available, it seems prudent for RIM practitioners to ask reprographic providers to apply security precautions to office machinery that is in line with their organization's risk management policies.

I will share additional information as I receive it, and I hope others will shed light on this subject.

Thanks,

Gordy

><I'm curious as to how many of us in Listserv land actually have included guidelines/standards/procedures, etc. on the management of copying equipment in your records programs?>
