Its interesting that the individual referenced wasn't charged with violation of the federal records act since he allegedly hired a third party to wipe information from his office computer.  The article doesn't indicate if they were successful in that attempt.  Perhaps attempting to destroy federal records only becomes an offense if one is successful.
