Hi RIM list
My company is moving to SAP for our enterprise system and my schedule is
being used to determine how long to retain records. However, even I am
questioning why General Ledger records have been deemed a permanent
record.
Most references I've checked re: General Ledger require permanent retention
and I was wondering how you are actually retaining it permanently - back up
tapes? Separate back ups? print outs? ERM? What do you do when you switch
to a new financial system - do you migrate all the data or do you save the
data and its headers? What specific parts of the General Ledger do you define
as having permanent value to your organization.
Any ideas on how to do a diligent review of this particular record series?
