Krista, although an American rather than a Canadian jurisdiction, the New York State Archives has developed a rather complete set of retention schedules for the NYS Unified Court System.
You should be able to access them at the URL http://iarchives.nysed.gov/Publications/pubOrderServlet?category=ServicesGovRecs. (I say "should" because I'm working from my BlackBerry, and this Web page does not reproduce well on it.)
The Web page listed above has many useful introductory publications as well, and these may prove useful to you in your new duties.
Very best of luck.

Subject: [RM] Court records
Hello everyone,
I have recently been appointed as the Manager of Information Services
for the Provincial Court of Newfoundland and Labrador. This is a brand
new position, and any past information management activities were done
by staff dedicated to other tasks. Until now, IM has never been a
priority and I now have a very long list of things I want to accomplish.
My first priority is to develop retention and disposition schedules for
the three courts that don't yet have them, namely Youth Court, Family
Court, and Traffic Court.
Is there anyone on this list that also works with court records and that
has existing retention schedules or IM policies related to court records
that you would be willing to share?
I'm not sure how wide the interest in this subject would be, so perhaps
replying off-list is a better option.
Thank you very much!
Krista
