This has always been a very interesting community... never ceases to amaze
me what people get passionate... and/or dispassionate... about. Similar to
families, there are often things that people loudly express their outrage
over, even when the member most directly impacted seems to say little or
nothing about it themselves.
I'm sure Fred's post will draw far fewer positive responses from the A&A
'family', mainly because both the A&A and the UK-RM list is where the
majority of the negative comments regarding the volume of messages came
from, and also where the skills to establish/develops rules for managing the
volume or source of content, was... well shall we say "lacking".
Change is inevitable... the content is still available, now it's up to users
to "pull" it rather than have it pushed to them.
Everyone here, especially those who have expressed their feelings openly,
have the necessary skills to retain access to the content just as they had
it before. The ones who lose it are the ones who didn't value it to begin
with, and even they have the ability to still get it by signing up for the
Group... and once they do, they can get direct messages, a daily digest, or
simply go to the web to view the stories.
