Subject: Any experience using a vendor to QC and correct OCR work?


A colleague is looking for better quality OCR work. Her originals are quite
challenging in that in addition to being a scan they are in French (all
those accents matter!). The OCR text is then run through sophisticated
translation software that balks terribly at missing accents and the like.

So, any insights on better OCR software? Better processes to help the OCR
software (higher DPI maybe)? And/or any experience using a vendor to QC and
correct the OCR text? For her, that vendor would need to be French fluent
(preferably "mother tongue" as the translators like to say).

I'm a bit stumped and would love a leg-up from someone with OCR project
experience.
