L'Archivista: Illinois Electronic Records Act
"on 28 July, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn signed a new state Electronic
Records Act<http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/fulltext.asp?DocName=&SessionId=76&GA=96&DocTypeId=SB&DocNum=2630&GAID=10&LegID=49547&SpecSess=&Session=>into
law. This new law specifies that electronic records have "the same
force and effect" as records created in other formats and that they are
subject to the state's Freedom of Information law and encourages state
agencies to create and transmit electronic records provided that doing so
does not "jeopardize the efficient operation of state government." "
