Hi Donna,

Congratulations on your new job. I hope it proves to be a rewarding career change for you. Keep us posted on your progress.

There is a great deal of misunderstanding out there about SharePoint 2010 and how it can be leveraged for ECM and RIM functionality. I won't try to debate the merits of SP 2010 here, but I can tell you that the vendors who said Microsoft doesn't want it to become a 'true' ECM solution are wrong. In fact, Microsoft specifically refers to SharePoint 2010 as 'the ECM version of SharePoint'. Microsoft made significant investments in content management and records management functionality in developing SharePoint 2010 and, if you look at some of its new features, it shows.

If you want to learn more about what SharePoint 2010 can do for your new organization, I write an independent blog on all things SharePoint and records management at: SharePointRecordsManagement.com. (I stayed up all night thinking up the name.) Hopefully, you can find some additional information there.

Cheers,
Don Lueders, CRM, CDIA
