Hello,
I agree with Peter's statement: << Typically plans are retained for x time after superseding. >>
Ours are kept 2 years after they are superseded. We are a public water utility; if your client is an electric utility, they probably have a different set of requirements than we do. I would recommend they join the utility records management group and pose the question there: [log in to unmask]

Subject: Records Retention period for Business Resumption Planning, Emergency/Disaster Recovery Planning.
Hello everyone,
My name is Patti Bowles and my husband and I own and operate a records
storage, paper shredding and recycling business in Winnipeg, Manitoba
Canada. I joined the listserev to educate myself about RM issues and how
people are solving them. Thank you all for the great education and I am
learning lots. Today I have a question that I am hoping someone can help me
with. We have a record storage client who has asked us for some guidance on
how long they should keep their Business Resumption Planning,
Emergency/Disaster Recovery Planning records. This client is a private
utility company. They used to be publicly owned and at that time they had a
full retention schedule done by an external consultant but nothing in their
schedule addresses how long to keep this type of record.
I would be interested to know what other people are doing and any advice
that is out there.
Thank you in advance.
Patti
