I feel for the public officials (Recorders, Clerks, Registers of Deed -
depending on the state) that they were first required to accept and file
documents with the personal identifying information, and are now tasked with
the job of removing that information - at some cost to their budgets and
taxpayers.  Social Security numbers should never have been included in the
documents filed by lenders, title companies, and title attorneys.  At least
now, some states have "outlawed" or banned the inclusion of this information
in the documents filed at county offices.
