To this excellent list of suggestions, some additions to consider:

In SF, Louis' pancake house next to the Cliff House - ok food and great view
- get there early; also, see Golden Gate Park if you have the time.

Just north of San Francisco is a trail that apparently Robin Williams used
for jogging and/or hiking.  Easy walk through Marin headlands, ending at a
beautiful pocket beach nestled between two cliffs.  See -

Woods.

If traveling south past Monterey and Carmel, stop at Ventana Inn in Big Sur
for coffee at their cliff side tables (the Inn is easy to find off main
road).  Also, ask them for directions to Pfeiffer Beach -

If you do decide to stay in Napa, St. Helena had some nice B&B's.
